Diageo tasked Sweet&Chilli with creating hype and excitement around Lagavulin’s 200<sup>th</sup> Anniversary, capturing the attention of bartenders and media around Australia via a series of premium informative tasting events as well as their employees based in North Sydney.
Celebrating the unique character of the whisky, it’s birthplace and the people imperative to its success we travelled to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to captivate the audience with a taster of Lagavulin’s home through the latest Samsung virtual-reality technology.
Hosted by Diageo Whisky Ambassador, Sean Baxter captivated the audience transporting them to Islay, Scotland through a multi-sensory 3D journey of Lagavulin’s distillery. Featuring a fully immersive tour of Islay’s outdoors starting with the salty, fresh pier and burning peat fields to the comfort of the gentleman’s study, media and trade were then offered samples in a beautifully themed environment set to replicate the interior of the distillery finishing with an exclusive pour of the limited edition 8-year-old bottling produced to mark the 200th Anniversary. Bringing out the best of each experience, every serve was paired with a range of quality foods to compliment the liquid including freshly shucked oysters, blue cheese shortbreads, tender beef fillet as well as luxury salted caramel dark chocolate truffles.
Our creative team worked to ensure all areas of the brand activations were dressed to replicate Islay as well as presenting impressive displays of whisky sensory items to bring to life Lagavulin’s notes and characteristics in a tasteful way set to resonate with guests. With extensive knowledge of the brand, all advise and creation of drinks serves and food pairings were managed across all events.
